Mark's 30th Birthday Bash!

Mark Hassman is turning 30! And that requires celebration! Cheryl planned a little outing for everyone to the Arlington Race Track. We all had a wonderful time watching the horse races, and placing some bets. Some even left with a little extra $$$.
It was a wonderful day, and it was so nice to see friends and family!
Happy 30th Mark!!!

Nolan shopping at Jewel!

Nolan and I frequent Jewel foods about every other day! And recently we found a fun cart to stroll around the store in. He loves to sit in this car, and beep the horn and steer us around. And I love it because it keeps him occupied throughout the store!

Feeding Time!

Nolan is just growing up so fast. I realize he is becoming less and less "my baby". Last week I thought it would be fun if he would feed himself. And it definitely was an adventure. He first held the spoon the wrong way, then had the correct position, but proceeded to dip the spoon in and then take it out and lick it. It is one of the funniest things I have witnessed. But he had a great time making a mess with applesauce and a spoon!

Family Visit from Saudi Arabia!

On August 5th, we were blessed with a visit by Todd's aunt Carole and cousin Musab from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Musab has decided to go to college in California, and is looking at Cal State in Chico. It was a nice treat to spend the evening with them. We went to dinner in Edison Park at Nonno Pino.

Pool TIME!

Thought I would share a video clip of Nolan exploring in his baby pool at 14 1/2 months. He is still a bit hesitant at times, although at the end of this clip, he does attempt to get his face wet. He really loves this pool, he loves throwing the toys out, and watching me go chase them and put them back in the pool.

Rock N Roll Half Marathon Chicago

This weekend I raced in the Chicago Rock N' Roll Half Marathon (13.1 miles) with friends and co-workers! 18,000 people raced! There was bands playing about every 2 miles to keep us entertained, and a post-race concert as well. The city of Chicago always has a good turnout. We ran down Chicago city streets and then down the lake front with the skyline in the background. It was a perfect weekend for the race. It was 60 degrees at the start of the race, and turned sunny and about 70, at the finish line. I had a great race, I finished in 2 hours, 1 minute--about a 9:16 pace. I was very happy with that time!
